Cloud Computing and ERP in Industry
1. Introduction
In the context of cloud computing, Bowen et al., (2013) stated that as soon as the technology is advancing people are industries for the use of cloud computing and ERP system. Cloud computing and ERP system help to improve the profitability and productivity of organization by helping them to store quantity of data in public, private and other forms.
1.1 Aims of the research
Aim of this dissertation is to focus on the importance of ERP system and cloud computing and to understand its impact on the success of any organization. It also aims to highlight the uses of ERP system and cloud computing in order to encourage the implementation of this system.
1.2 Objective of the research
Objectives of this research follow as:
- To understand the importance and the impact of ERP system and cloud computing on the various types of industries for achieving their success factors.
- To understand the implementation methods of this system by different types of industries.
1.3 Hypothesis
- Cloud computing and ERP system is very helpful for organizations and industries in order to store and retrieve data.
- Cloud computing and ERP system does not help any organization and industry in order to store and retrieve data.
2. Literature review
2.1 Introduction
Many of the industries and organizations are adapting the use of technological systems or devices for the ease of their work. They are also adopting the use of cloud computing and ERP system. And as per the views of Elragal and Haddara (2013), the main reason behind such implementations by industries and organizations is that they all want improvement in their performance and be productive & active with the changes in the market place. According to Kling (2013), this system helps in managing huge data. The system helps them to store their information and retrieve the same in proper and efficient way. Cloud computing allow organizations to change their privacy system as per their need. It allows them to display or make data public, private or hybrid in nature. There are three different models of cloud computing which are collectively known as services. The services of cloud computing are platform as a services (PaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS ) and software as a service (SaaS).Each service posses its own usage and importance for example, SaaS service require license, i.e. the user has to pay for it. Whereas PaaSis a pre-defined platform based service and the platform is delivery based. On the other hand LaaSdelivers the service with the help of operating system. ERP system also possesses its usage in maintaining data in a proper and efficient manner.
2.2 Importance of cloud computing and ERP systems
Cloud computing and ERP system help in improving the scalability of the organization and reduces organizational cost. It further, helps to improve the consistent level of employees and thereby achieve target for the profitability of organization. Cloud computing and ERP system help in mobility, usability and accessibility of the data of any organization.
2.3 Summary
The need of using technology has increased to a greater extent. Each industry or organization wants to reach global level and maintain competency. In this race of increasing individual’s profitability; many organizations are adapting cloud computing and ERP system. These systems help them to operate their data in efficient way and work for the growth of the organization.
3) Research Methodology
3.1 Introduction
Research methodology helps to collect data while maintaining ethics and conduct the research work in such a way that it can lead to a useful gain of knowledge and understanding. It makes the researcher to analyze the collected data obtained from the viewpoints of the targeted audience.
3.2 Data collection
The data collection is done with the help of primary data collection method as well as secondary data collection method. For the collection of primary data 10 employees from two different IT firms have been interviewed. The interviews have been conducted with the help of prepared questionnaires (one set for each employee). On the other hand, secondary data has been collected from various online and offline sources that includes articles, books, articles, journals, websites etc.
3.3 Limitations
Several limitations came in the path of concluding the whole work but the major limitations were time limit allotted for completing the research and the budget that was spent while collecting first hand information through primary data collection method.
3.4 Summary
In this section, the researcher has described the way in which the research has been analyzed and how the data has been collected for supporting the objectives of the research work.
